Boston is gearing up for a wet and messy Monday morning as a storm system rolls into the area, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. This weather is expected to impact commuters along the I-95 corridor and throughout the South Coast, with forecasters warning of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas.

Rainfall and Wind Forecast

The rain is expected to start late Sunday evening and ramp up significantly by Monday morning, with forecasts predicting one to three inches of rain in various parts of Massachusetts. Winds from the south can gust up to 45 mph, creating challenging travel conditions and potentially leading to street flooding.

  • Heavier rainfall is likely between midnight and 10 a.m., making for a slippery commute.
  • Urban areas known for poor drainage might see standing water and localized flooding.

Temperatures and Impacts

Despite the rain, temperatures for Monday are expected to remain mild, hovering in the upper 50s to low 60s. While this might seem comfortable for a rain-filled day, it could lead to a parky commute as drivers and pedestrians navigate the puddles and heavy downpours.

Lingering Effects into the Evening

As the day progresses, the rain is expected to taper off in most places, but some scattered showers may linger into the evening, which could impact the evening commute as well.

Looking Ahead: A Sigh of Relief

However, good news is on the horizon. Drier conditions are anticipated for Tuesday through Thursday, providing a much-needed break from the rain. High temperatures will also drop into the 50s starting Wednesday, so be sure to grab a jacket when heading out!

Future Rain Predictions

Looking further ahead, another weather system is set to arrive Thursday night, bringing possibly lighter rain into Friday. So while this week’s rainy start may dampen spirits, the return to clearer skies could be just around the corner!

Stay tuned for more updates as the weather continues to evolve, and remember to drive safely during the rain!
